Final Project

Week 8

I finalised my logo with Miss Low and attempted the design for my business cards, letterhead and store card. I also listed down the applications that I will be doing for the project and a rough idea of how I imagine my brand guide to be.

I had options for my card, letterhead and store card and asked for her feedback. We confirmed the second design for the business card, option 1 for the letter head and option 1 for the postcard as well. The postcard also acts as a shopcard. All as shown in the progression below.

Week 9

This week i continued on to come with more applications for my brand. As much as I can, promotional posters, tote bag and tshirt, rubber stamp, website home page and folders.

At first Ms.Low was not impressed with the t-shirt & tote bag, She suggested I use my 3D logos that i had done up to be a separate collection of merchandise, and thought it would add more depth to the brand logo. Other then that we also were asked to start on our brand guide on inDesign

Week 10

This week I started to work on my brand guide on inDesign. I showed my thumbnails during week 9 and started to build it up. This week was a trial and errors on grids and type setting.

At first i went for

Header: Agrandir Variable_Wide 18pts
Body Typeface: Agrandir Variable_Wide 13pts
Subtext: Times New Roman Italic 12pts.

Ms. Low didn't think my combination of times new roman and agrandir worked. She suggested i change my body text font to something more readable. Ms.Low also pointed out the rivers and orphans within the paragraphs and suggested solutions on like justifying and force line breaking some text. Ultimately she believes changing the font as whole would help as agrandir wide is a display text.

Week 11

It's week 11 and today I continued on with the content of my brand guide. I added my logo clear space, and variations with detailed explanation. I had not take Ms.Lows's feedback just yet but i do plan on changing the body text.

Week 12

This week I focused on completing and finalising my brand guide content. I went on and continued to be a thorough as possible on my logo applications and usage rules. I referenced off other brand-guides and arranged the paginations on what made sense to be next to each other. Ive also changed my body text font to Futura Std book, and found it to be way better cleaner.

In page 13 ive added a page of ways to reproduce the logos. Ms.Low pointed out that the preferred logo size that was mentioned before should be in there as well.

Week 13

Unfortunately i lost my files during  week 12 as the application crashed. I had to catch up to speed with my classmates again and thank goodness i had kept screenshots of how the general layout look like. I could recreate the exact grid placements but they were close enough.

This time i added a grid drawing for the Lagom Symbol, graphic expression, and also started working on my application.

The labeling of my namecard seems to be okay and clean, Ms.Low was satisfied. Not much feedback was given but just to remember of our datelines. With that I continued on and try to finish up the rest of my applications. And also to start on our logo animation.

Week 14

Its the last week of class and i continued to finish up and do slight changes to m brand guide. I decided to cut down on the list of applications in the brand guide. This was because I dont think it was appropriate for something like a promotional poster to be in a guiude book as its ever changing.

I added on envelope, rubber stamp and our shop card as i do think those are essentials. I also added in uniforms a tshirt and a tote bag

Quickly after that i continued on working on my animation. Unfortunately my after effects skillsisnt the best and just did based on what i know and have learned from youtube videos. I had wanted to come up with something like this.

I first had to saperate my logo into seperate gifs. and try to create some movements.

Title: Making and Breaking the Grid : A Graphic Design Layout Workshop
Author: Samara, Timothy.

All design work involves problem solving on both visual and organizational levels. Pictures and symbols, fields of text, headlines, tabular data, all these pieces must come together to communicate as a totality. A grid is one approach to doing so. Before anything else, a grid introduces systematic order to a layout. Not only does it distinguish different types of information, easing a user’s navigation through them but, just as importantly, it alsoensures vital cohesion among visual elements, harmonizing them through the systems of spatial proportions and positioning logic it defines.
