Week 1 - Introduction to Module

In this module is a multi disciplinary one, we will be collaborating with the Computing and Business students for the project. Groupings will be determine by Mr.Mike and the other lecturers from different schools so that the group is balanced in-terms of skill set.

We have met with Mr Mike and Dr Edwin regarding our ideas for potential projects in this module. We are briefed in person about the projects and the module. We chose our groups today based on the given projects. And my team members include Yeo Ava, Chew Huang Yuet, Soo Wenyi, Daryl and Izac Low.

Week 2

In week two Mr.Mike explained to us about the stages of design Design Thinking. He gave us a case and asked us to judge the situation and answer a questions related to understand that design innovations comes from users experience, tech feasibility and business viability.

1. Who's the target audience?

2. What's the target audience's need?

3. What is the solution?

Mr Mike also gave us some notes for our team the mud card group, where our project is quite direct since we are one of the target audience.

Project Brief

Project #3 - Mud Card System Progress

Week 3

It's Week 3 and we sat down with Mr.Mike and told him our ideas for the app. Our discussion left us with more questions instead as Mr.Mike drilled us and helped us see the project in a more realistic point of few. Below are his feedback

        -     Other than feedback (mud card), what else can it do? If the purpose is only that, it will not go                   far.
        -     Find reasons to create contents in this app
        -     If this is catered to lecturers, we need to speak to lecturers from different schools to understand                their needs for teaching and learning experience/to be able to cater to different teaching                           methods
        -     Find a way to make all these website either to be embedded or parked into this app that we                      want to create
        -     For now we need to think of what we want to create first rather than being concern over                           whether it can be executed
         -    Even though we are focusing on lecturers, it is also good to get feedbacks from students

Week 4

Based on the feedback given to us by Mr Mike, we expanded on our ideas to be more inclusive for both students and teachers. We decided to use a quantitative data collection method, which is a survey to be shared among teachers from various teaching backgrounds. The survey will contain open-ended questions in order to receive detailed and diverse opinions from each individual. Additionally, another survey will be shared among students with a different set of questions. This method was chosen in order to gain a better insight of what they will be looking for in our app.

We’ve also begun researching the possible additional contents we could add to the app, ranging from classroom necessities to interactive activities. This will be further discussed with the other courses working on this project.

Week 5

Its week 5 and we have come up with our proposal with data that we have gathered from the survey sent out. Survey interviews are completed with the help of the business EAP programme students. Next is the data analysis and summary report. The report should be discussed with the 2 other groups and the Problem Statement should be confirmed.

After presenting we all started by distributing the tasks. Ava and I will be handling the art direction, Wenyi, Daryl and Isac will be handling the sitemaps working with the IT team while Yip overlooks the whole projects and makes sure that everything runs smoothly.

Our next course of action is :

    -    Sitemap and Information Architecture
    -    Art Direction for the UI design

Week 6

Feedback

Reflection

Week 1
We had our first meet up with the rest of the students today through webcam, and it feels like this module is going to be chaotic.

Week 2
Settling for a group was not easy. We did ask Mr.Mike about whether there were rules and he clearly said no. But after handing in our groupings, he then realised he had to shuffle us around as we all have different specialties.

Week 3
I think after hearing what Mr.MIke said, it was true, there's definitely more potential now for the complexity of the app. We should start on our survey questions as soon and as possible and start narrowing down the list of functions on the app.

Week 4
After coming up with a google form survey for the student we passed it among our classmates and also tried to reach out to other course students. This would help us understand better the consumer wants and needs and from there we can narrow down the functions the app should carry.

Week 5
It's week 5 and we have gotten back our survey results. After a discussion with Mr.Mike we were all given tasks as a team. Me and Ava were incharge of art direction while Izac, Wenyi and Daryl were in charge the wireframe Yip over looks everyone and make sure everything is going on schedule

Week 6
While the rest work with the IT team in confirming the Low fidelity and understand the site map, I started to work on the art direction covering the font, logo, colour choice, buttons and possible graphic expressions.

Week 7
The IT team has yet to get back to us on the sitemap. While that was happening I showed my team the proposed design and explained my rationale. Everyone seemed to be onboard with the idea and we all started gathering more references from different websites and apps for buttons, graphic expression and website layouts.

Week 8
As we were all waiting for the site map to proceed with the low fidelity, not much could be done on my end in terms of design.

Week 9
As Daryl and Wenyi started on completing the task at hand, the low fidelity wireframes Ava, Yip & I worked on the art direction further to completion with rationale, confirmed colour hex codes and icon design.

Week 10
As Daryl and Wenyi started on completing the task at hand, the low fidelity wireframes Ava, Yip & I worked on the art direction further to completion with rationale, confirmed colour hex codes and icon design.

Week 11
Our prototype for the Admin and Lecturer website are finally ready for testing. Yip had managed to set a date and time with his lecturer that agreed to give her feedback. The student app and website was slightly behind schedule but we proceeded with what had to be done anyways.

Week 12
We are all under pressure now and time is of the essence. We had interviewed a lecturer and done our testing, she had given us really insightful feedback and changes had to be made. Daryl and Wenyi quickly amended based on the feedback they got and handed over their low-fidelity to Ava, Yip and I so we could start applying the designs based on the art direction we had confirmed for the high fidelity.

Unfortunately the low fidelity student website and app were lacking in terms of some features as compared to the website and admin so Yip had to step in to do some upgrading to the student website and app low fidelity. As yip was working on the remaining low fidelity, I started working on the high fidelity for the Lecturer website on Adobe XD and finalising the art direction. Wenyi and Daryl stepped in again to help link the pages again for the high fidelity. We manage to finish all 4 pages within the allocated timeline.

Week 13
We showed our prototype to Mr.Mike and everything went well. He was satisfied with the design application and understood our rationale behind our design choices. He had advised us to make minor changes to our graphical elements and now we have to amend the art direction. We are now very close to the finishing line.

Week 14
After confirming the adjustments to the background as advised by Mr.Mike I handed over the design to Wenyi and Daryl so they could continue finishing up the promotional collaterals and merchandise. While Ava added the design in the Adobe XD file.
